Getting the best result from your photo. Higher resolution photos generally engrave more clearly — a sharp, well-lit image will produce a better result than a small or blurry one. That said, lower resolution photos can still work well; we'll always do our best with what you send.

If you're unsure about your photo's quality, upload it and add a note — we'll assess it and get in touch if there's anything you should know before we engrave. We won't proceed if we think the result won't be up to standard without checking with you first.

We read every note. Small decorative additions (hearts, stars, simple motifs) alongside text can sometimes be accommodated — we'll confirm before engraving. If anything's unclear we'll get in touch.

About this coin

This wallet card is laser engraved onto stainless steel — a slim, durable piece designed to be carried in a wallet, bag, or pocket every day. The engraving is permanent: it won't tarnish, fade, or scratch off over time.

The card is the same dimensions as a standard bank card, making it a natural fit for any wallet. Every order is dispatched in a gift envelope — no price information included.

Getting the best from your photo

What works well

Sharp, clear photos with good contrast. Close-up portraits. Simple compositions with an obvious focal point. Minimum 1MB file size where possible.

⚠️

What to know

All colour photos are engraved in a greyscale-style process — the laser works with tone and contrast, not colour. Very dark or heavily filtered photos may lose detail.

🔍

Low resolution photos

We can work with lower resolution images but some detail will be lost. We'll always let you know if we think a photo won't produce a good result before we engrave.

↔️

Orientation

Portrait photos tend to work best in portrait orientation; landscape photos in landscape. You can express a preference — we'll always try to honour it and will let you know if we can't.

How it's made

Your photo is converted to a laser-ready format and engraved directly onto the metal surface using a high-precision fibre laser. This is a fundamentally different process to printing — the image is burned into the metal rather than applied on top of it, which is why the result is permanent and doesn't degrade over time.

The engraving produces varying depths of mark to create tone and detail — the more detailed and high-contrast the original photo, the more the engraving can capture. Simplifying your image in terms of contrast before sending can help, but isn't required.

What about text side?

For double-sided photo + text orders, the text is laid up to sit neatly and centrally within the card. You write naturally — don't try to add spacing or arrange the text yourself. If you want something specific, note it in the Order notes box.

Small designs and motifs

Some customers request small decorative additions to the text side — simple things like a heart, a star, or a border. We can often accommodate these, but it depends on the complexity and available space. Request it in the Order notes and we'll confirm what's possible before engraving.

Proofs and contact

For straightforward orders we'll engrave from your submission directly. For anything involving an unusual photo, a specific layout request, or something we're not sure about, we'll get in touch before we start.
