What's the best type of photo to send for engraving?
Sharp, well-lit photos with good contrast tend to engrave most clearly. A close-up portrait with a clear subject usually works better than a busy group shot or a very dark image.
Will my photo look exactly like the original once it’s engraved?
Not exactly — the engraving process works in tone and contrast rather than full colour, so some detail is interpreted rather than reproduced pixel-for-pixel. We'll always flag it if we think a particular photo won't translate well.
Can I send a low-resolution photo, like one from social media?
You can, and we'll do our best with it. Higher resolution generally gives a sharper result, but we'd rather you send the photo that matters most to you than hold back over file quality — we'll let you know if it's likely to be a problem.
Does the card fit in a standard wallet?
Yes — it's the same size as a bank card, so it sits in a card slot like any other card.
Can I have a photo on one side and a message on the other?
Yes, this is one of our double-sided options. Choose "photo and text" when ordering and you’ll get a free-form box to write your message.
What happens if my photo doesn’t fit the shape of the card well?
We do our best to crop and position photos to suit the card, and you can tell us if you'd prefer landscape or portrait. If a photo's proportions make this difficult, we'll be in touch before engraving.
Will the engraving wear off over time, like it might with a printed card?
No — because it's engraved into the metal rather than printed on top, it won't rub off, fade, or scratch away with normal use.
Is this a good gift for someone who’s not into "stuff"?
It tends to work well for exactly that reason — it's small, practical, and goes where they already carry things, rather than becoming another object to find space for.
Can I request a small symbol like a heart or star next to the text?
Sometimes, depending on the space available. Let us know in the order notes and we'll confirm what's possible before engraving.
How do I send my photo after ordering if I forget to upload it?
Just reply to your order confirmation email with the photo attached, or get in touch — we'll match it to your order using your order number.
